Bettie Press Release!
HEAVENS TO BETTIE!
South Florida’s newest handmade boutique opens its doors Sept. 2
DANIA BEACH, FL – Starting in September, South Floridians will no longer have to trek to South Beach to find stylish clothing and accessories. That’s because Bettie, a fresh new boutique stocked with goods from up-and-coming designers, opens its doors in Dania on September 2.
The brainchild of longtime designers and members of the Miami Craft Mafia, Bettie is bringing the unique designs of local crafters, as well as the best handmade items from designers across the country, to the Broward County shores. Browsing the store, you’ll find local goods like jewelry and journals by Dragonfly Crafts, spectacular and stylish totes by Mamadelic, and psychedelic clothing for kids of all ages by Ragamufyn. Soaps and edible body products are on tap, courtesy of Lushbox and Daisycakes Soap. And out of towners like Moxie Madness, Reckon, Tinymeat and Divinity Designs are getting in on the action too, with silkscreened tees, hipster patches, snazzy plastic wallets and more.
There’s no question these goods are hot, but that’s not the only reason to shop Bettie. Bettie’s a haven for handmade goods, so every purchase supports a crafter or artist. Plus, Bettie’s as unique as you are – everything in the store is a unique piece of art, so you’ll never have to worry about wearing the same thing as everybody else.
Intrigued? Stop by Bettie’s grand opening celebration on Sept. 2 and check it out for yourself, or visit www.shopbettie.com.

Opening a store
So a few of us in the Miami Craft Mafia have always toyed with the idea of opening a store. We would sell our own handmade items along with opening it up to consignments. I have been away for the last 2 months and havent had much contact with anyone from home. About 3 days ago I got a call from Mona. It turns out Mona and Heather decised to look around for store space that we could afford. They wanted to know if they could count me in. I told her I needed to talk to Drew about it and think for a while and I would let her know....I totally expected Drew to not be into the idea because of the store location and because of the work I would have to put into it with out much financial payback. But he was more positive than I thought. He was concerned about the money but I explained to him that I wouldnt be doing it for the money. I would do it for the experience mostly. After talking to him about it, I thought about it more and how I always had day dreams about owning some sort of store. A soap store, a supply store, ect. Things that would turn me off from the idea were things like doing it all by myself, not being able to go away at all, the technicalities of owning and running a store. It seems all these reasons have dissappeared with this project. I will have 2 business partners splitting the work evenly. We will be able to work ideas of each other and have support from each other. I am really looking forward to this. I can't wait to get home and get started. Heather found a third place yesturday that looks like a really nice place. Its on the small side but the price is right and its in really good shape. So I think we will do it there. Mona is supposed to go over today to see it. My brain is going crazy from ideas. I should start writing stuff down and go over it with the girls when I get home.....

Vaca
First of all, I wanted to post pics of the girls at sesame place but first:
Yes, I road a camel. Try explaining to a 3 year old and a 5 year old that you feel its morally and ethically wrong to ride a camel around a little circle once for $5 in the middle of New York City.....
Anyways, heres the pics from sesame place, which is just a crowded mess of piss water from dirty Americans:
Olivia on her first roller coaster which she absolutely loved!
Its so sad when a 5 year old already has issues with her mom (on the right).......my poor Haillie
My beautiful Fire Woman
THis ride particularly smelt like piss.....

Counter
I am feeling so technologically advanced! I was able to enter a counter at the bottom of the page! I mean I just went to statcounter.com and filled in the info so it really wasn't me writing code or anything but still! I was able to copy and paste the code in the right place! And I looked, and it was there! The first time!
Okay, now reading over what I just wrote, I sound like a real air head. But I guess it doesn't matter. Who the hell will be reading this anywhoo?

Earrings
So, I went to my dads house a few days ago. His wife and kids were at Cape Cod so I knew the house would be nice and quiet....and boring. So I brought over my jewelry supplies with me for something to do. I ended up making these earrings:
I'm not actually sure if I like them. They don't seem to go alone with the rest of my jewelry in terms of the style. I am going to leave them up for a while, till I get home in a few weeks and then I might just take them down....
